Field Technician Profession

Improved Essays
The position I am applying for the field technician position in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. While searching for summer jobs related to my field of study I came across this position. This position really stood out to me because it allows me to apply my knowledge that I have learned in various classes in a real-world setting. It would also allow me to apply my knowledge outside in the field. For the majority of summers of employment, I have been working outside. I would work right up until I had to go back to school and then the first few weeks of school were a struggle because I wanted to be outside rather than sitting in a classroom. Being a field technician allows me to do work that I find interesting and in a setting that I enjoy.

There is a high demand for vet techs and it will continue to grow. Surprisingly there is a 36% estimated growth rate in this field from 2008 to 2018 (Job Outlook for Veterinary Technicians, n.d.). This is partially due to the lack of two year degree vet programs, which doesn’t supply veterinary clinics with enough vet techs, and from people leaving or retiring from their job. Once a vet tech graduates they are almost guaranteed a…

I would like to work as a full time technician in the field hopefully after only a year or two out of college. Generally new technicians out of training need about 2 years to be on their own, fortunately I am currently working for a company, and I will have a year and a half of experience by the time I get my AAS here at NIACC. Becoming a full time technician is not my goal though, eventually I want to work my way up to one of two things, either the owner of a company, or a full time maintenance man at a large establishment such as a hospital. Owning my own business would be a huge accomplishment, but a lot of hard work and stress trying to manage budgets and paychecks and until I get plenty of experience in the field that is not something…
