Eating a meal and attending a class are equally important. One cannot be successful with just doing only one of these two actions. Eating give you energy for class, while attending class will give you knowledge to support yourself in the future. Thus, I decide to pick the Social Science and Humanities Building, or commonly known as SOCSCI by students, and the Tercero Dining Commons, or DC, to compare. It is true that SOCSCI and the Tercero DC are convenient locations, but there is more to these two places when I force myself to sit down and notice the details within both areas. First off, the location of the Social Science and Humanities building and the Dining Commons seem to tell their own story. If one were to take a campus map and fold …show more content…
The Social Science and Humanities building stood tall and firm while showing a serious expression just like the students that go in and out of it. It is very peaceful most of the times during class periods, and very soft rustle, here and there, as a couple students leave and enter classrooms. There was a hint of bacon in the air on the day when I did my recording, but the smell of open air completely surrounds the building. SOCSCI seem to be the perfect getaway for students to have some quiet moment to themselves. The Tercero Dining Commons, being the exact opposite, is the center of attraction during eating hours. Only just two stories high, I feel like there are more students on the second floor than there are in SOCSCI. Students are constantly in motion and having conversation that the noise level stays mildly high and the motion sensor is always picking up signal. In addition, the ceiling lights and the amazing view from the windows give a comfortable and relaxing feeling for stressful students. The best part of sitting in a dining common is the smell of delicious food acting as a blanket covering an individual. I think being in the mist of all the smells of food is ideal to a food lover like me. However, there is no reason to stay at the dining common or SOCSCI too long since each location fulfill its purpose only at the right time and under the right

As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

For this assignment, I chose to observe the smaller side of the residential dining hall (res) at 9 in the morning. The smaller side of the dining hall is lined with booths on the side wall, back wall, and window side. In the center of the room, there are tables (usually 2-4) clustered in line formation. The booths seem to encourage a more intimate dining setting (if 2 or more people are present) or isolate a single person from the rest of the people present. I observed that this is a place where people both hang out and work.…

When I looked out into the crowd the majority of whom I could see throughout the dining hall are students here at the University of Delaware. Anytime during the day that I would go to the dining hall I can be guaranteed to see students filling up the dining area in Caesar Rodney. It is interesting to see the variety of students throughout the dining hall. Even with the plethora of seating options there is always a nice spread of students throughout the hall enjoying its features. One of those features is the reliable Wi-Fi access.…

As the largest campus in the Penn State system, University Park is home to a diverse population of roughly 46,000 undergraduate students. It is located in the small, archetypal college town of State College where there are numerous eateries, however, many students choose to take advantage of the amenities available to them through the university directly (“Penn State Campuses…”). Approximately 13,700 students live on campus, and since first-year students are required to live on campus, it is crucial that they invest their time in finding an eating location that is worthy of their precious minutes. Pollock Dining Commons is located at the center of campus on the second floor of the Pollock Commons building. Pollock’s “all-you-care-to-eat”…

The question I wanted the answer to was if food was “racist”, with that in mind I did research to see if there were any studies done to see if some races preferred certain food over others. Foods that are easy to get to such as fast food or pre-made meals are popular choice for people especially for those who are college aged. There is a general low intake of healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and most people, male and female, aren’t meeting the recommend diet and exercise patterns. Studies have shown that race and ethnicity certainly is one of the important roles in food choice, but environment, economic standing and your family also play roles.…

I have learned so much from my fieldwork observations. I have been able to see a second grade and pre-k class and see the difference between curriculums and schedules. Something that has surprised me while observing was noticing how some parents do not help their children with homework assignments which is unfortunate. To add, I learned approaches that the cooperating teacher made for students that did not complete work, assignments, or misbehaved in class. Hearing the students’ excitement when I show up to fieldwork and hear some of the student responses to questions are two of the things that I love most while observing.…

There is the library section, the office section, the pre-school-2nd grade section, the 3rd-6th-grade section, the music/art and computer section, the cafeteria section and the restroom area. It surprised me to see how open the school area is because it does not resemble an American school building at all. The school buildings are run down and the restroom area is very small. But the classrooms are full of color and life. When I walked into Mrs. Alba’s classroom (where I stayed for my field experience), I noticed that the classroom resembled the size of my bedroom at home.…
