Some classrooms have air conditioners that you placed into the window and some have some prehistoric ceiling fans. The walls inside the classroom were not any better than the walls in the hallways, still lacking any vitality. Some classrooms have the traditional blackboards and some have odd green-boards which are not appeasing to view covered in bright yellow chalk. Some chairs have those tennis balls at the base of them to avoid making that terrible scratching noise that everyone hates. In some classroom students have a regular desk. In Mrs. Wallach’s classroom, the desks are regular and Mrs. Hriniak’s classroom has desks that are more table like as if they once had belonged inside of a science lab. I had to answer open ended questions that correlated with what was occurring in the classroom. At the end of it all the assignment was over thirty pages long, but that was only for one course. I also had to completed such field experience for a Special Education course as well. The assignment was daunting, redundant, and very lengthy. There was minimal or no time at all to interact with students the way I am able to interact with them now. I had an even smaller role in the student’s learning process than I do now. In my current field experience, observing in the back of the classroom is not the only task, but I also interact with the children and contribute a little to their learning. While students were in their mathematics class, I was able to use prior knowledge learned from previous courses to help students with exponents and radicals. In their Literature class, I used prior knowledge help the students in their understanding of the text about Slavery but also the historical context that the literature provided for the students. Existence as an extra support in the classroom really helps stimulate the learning process because there are more individuals to support
