In addition to the observation, I took a referrer via telephone as well as conducted an individual/ electronic clinical assessment (Intake).

Having had this experience, I knew that while I performed duties for the Wellness Center I was under the direct supervision of Health Educator Fernando Diaz. He manages and supervises all student workers at Student Health Services to his full capabilities. Diaz is often very busy regulating programs and lectures, therefore he is not always available to oversee all duties performed by the student workers. According to my contract for the internship, my direct supervisor was supposed to be Ty Ramsower, Director of Health Promotion.…

Performing my PPE helped me develop a better understanding of how a medical record is processed from the inception until it is filed in permanent records. I had no previous experience in a hospital setting so I was not sure of exactly how the entire operation is carried out. I have learned much in the classroom setting but after a while, it becomes difficult to truly understand how it all unfolds without seeing it in real time. When I am there, seeing things happen in real-time, it helps me to understand much better than I would if I had never been there. I have always been a visual person, so this helped me in so many ways.…

Good evening MS. Holder, My supervisor was a little worried for the fact that he has to check not achieved in some of the competence that is not applicable at the field agency (Not able to evaluate), but he just had to do it anyway. Is there a way the not applicable can be added to the list of options for the final evaluation next year for other students, because I think he had to give me a B+ in regards to that. I would have freaked out, because I put in too much effort in this field placement. On the other hand, I did not, because I realized the final grade does not depend on that.…

I am completing my internship at the Mental Health Association in Forsyth County. The agency is very macro based and we don’t provide direct care to clients as would a micro based agency. The agency is a huge resource for information and tools to get an individual linked with the help they need. We get phone calls from individuals in need of services as well as other providers and agencies who need more resources to offer their clients. The Mental Health Association does offer support groups at our location for anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders, and will soon start a support group for substance abuse disorders.…
