Personal Statement Essay: My Journey With Graphic Design And Art

At a young age, I was constantly exposed to art as an everyday stable in my life. My mother, being an artist and growing up with two sisters who majored in studio art, shaped my perspective of art and how it was the norm in my life. At age 12, I was already a master at navigating the computer and exploring with Photoshop before even knowing exactly what it was used for.
My journey with graphic design and art, in general, was a very natural one. Something just clicked inside of me that I knew I had a passion for it. I would stay up all night relentlessly perfecting my then blog layout or editing pictures as a hobby. Never would I have thought that this could turn into something I would pursue more than just a hobby.

As I tried to pursue music, I realized how much passion I lacked for it. Thus, I decided to switch back to graphic design as a major which prolonged my transferring process to another 2 years. I rediscovered my love and natural talent for design realizing that this was what I was called to do in life and I couldn’t run away from it any longer. Through my 4 years of attending Santa Monica College and learning about myself, art, and my goals; I got various opportunities and many doors that opened for me to use my talent in graphic design in helping the community around …show more content…
As I got to experience how it would be like to work in this field, I began to once again realize my passion and love for design as well as the impact it can have in our society. My future plans and goals would firstly be to not be afraid of taking chances and opportunities that come my way. I want to stretch my capabilities and grow as an artist and designer. I feel that being able to translate ideas in your head to a form of art that is tangible is amazing and I also hope to use every resource available to me at SFSU to achieve my potential and to see the impossible become possible through learning. I hope to further my passion and help make a positive impact in my community and this world through my talent and love for
