It is the toy that is sweeping the nation, and if you have not heard of it, then you must be living under a rock. The fidget spinner is the new gadget being used among teens, children and people of all ages. Millions of these plastic and metal devices that spin on their axis for long periods of time with minimal effort have been sold. It is all the rage and stores are trying to keep stocked with this not so new invention. Even though it took off in popularity this spring, the first fidget spinner debuted in 1993 to help calm people's nerves. Now, everywhere you go you will see someone fidgeting with this toy. It is lightweight, portable and durable, which is why it is widely used in schools and just about all public places. Competing businesses are trying to come up with the most edgy, fast, and most improved fidget spinners. The toys typically can spin for two minutes, but some can go for up to seven. It can slide almost anywhere, so if you accidentally lose it, you may never find it again. We often think that someone has come to steal all of our possessions (key, wallet, cell phone) and put them in a secret place such as under our fridge, in a hidden drawer or buried in the back yard, but most of the time, it is our fault. One of my friends personally had this experience where she lost her batman spinner in the realm of the unknown. For weeks she complained to a group of her friends about not being able to find it. She said she looked everywhere and asked her whole family if they had seen it, but concluded that her dogs must have taken it. Ironically enough, the same day that her group of friends were over, myself included, she spotted the spinner under the couch with bite marks from a dog.
