Police Job Interview Essay

The Officer that I interviewed was Officer Phil. Yoshikawa. He is originally from Fresno CA, but he now lives in Shafter, CA where he works with the Shafter police department. Officer Yoshikawa didn’t always know that he wanted to work with law enforcement he worked many other jobs before. Officer Yoshikawa had a manager at one of his jobs that told him to go to school in hopes of getting a better life, every day he told him until he finally went. He changed his major three times until he stayed with sociology as his major. He then went on to work with Shafter police department as a young rookie and he’s never left, or thought about leaving any time soon. He has been with the Shafter Police Department for about 19 years going on 20 years now. He doesn’t agree with a lot of the changes that are being put in place. When the department has new rules that are being implemented most of the department fallows through “you will always get that one guy that won’t” officer Yoshikawa said, but if it’s a rule they need to start fallowing it. The department in Shafter has a big deal with Racial Profiling. They do not accept any form or type of biased based policing. If any officer is caught Racial Profiling there will be consequences. The Police Department see’s a lot of volunteer work with in their community. They didn’t have to worry about bringing in a crowd, because all the help they got, but as of late the group of volunteers that they were getting is starting to get smaller. I asked him if he that it was getting smaller, because it’s just a small town, but he thinks it has to do with people just working more so any free time they don’t volunteer they just stay home or stay in with their
