When I first joined FFA, I had no idea of the impact it would have on me. Funnily enough, I originally thought of it just as a stepping stool into become a veterinarian- obviously plans have changed. And although my original goal and reason for joining has changed, I’m grateful that I did join, because FFA has impacted me in more ways than one. It goes beyond other experiences because as far as an educational experience goes, it has taught me a great deal than I ever expected. FFA has gone beyond just teaching me about cows, plants, and farming, it’s taught me business, life and leadership skills.…
This allowed me to start focusing on was really important. By recognizing what truly mattered, I was able to grasp that you should never let other people control how you live your…
Satirical Process Analysis: How to Be a Good Student Perhaps one the of the most tremendous mysteries for students is how to be an exceptional scholar. Hordes of pupils have strived to reach the top ten percent number and only few have sought after the famed population of the elite top one percent. There are a plethora of approaches that people have taken in the past to achieve this point of academic nirvana, but surely; they have failed.…
As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…
I am Gabrielle Mendoza, a first generation latino student. I come from a Latino background and was brought up in a very broken untraditional household. My grandmother alone raised me as my parents moved to a different home and raised my younger sister, leaving me with my grandmother. My grandmother was always at work making sure she kept food on the table for me. When she started working full time I was still very young, I had to learn to raise myself and do everything for myself.…
Community is important to me. I grew up in a small town where you knew your neighbors, and chances were that you lived down the street from at least one of your teachers. Where every summer Saturday, the entire block would meet in somebody’s backyard- a fire would be lit, and all of us kids would roast marshmallows and hotdogs, and play on the wooden swing-set, playing out stories and adventures. My community wasn’t just a place where I lived and went to school- it was a family.…
Before addressing why Pitt is a good choice for me, I would like to review why I am a good choice for Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh values their “talented, diverse and high achieving students”, their “safe and healthy campuses”, their unique balance of “fun and camaraderie with internships and other learning opportunities outside the classroom”, and their focus on “developing students into global citizens” (University of Pittsburgh webpage, ‘Prospective Students’). I am a well-rounded student who places priority upon academics, as well as a broad array of performing arts extracurricular activities, over 300 hours of community service, several job experiences and religious organizations. Therefore, if admitted to The University of Pittsburgh, I would fit right in with the ardent and accomplished student body, just as I would benefit as a person and as…
Over the course of my four years of high school, I have participated in clubs and sports where I have learned new things and made memories with friends. I was involved in Key Club, where we donate and volunteer to help the elderly, or people in need. During my time in this club, we donated numerous amount of times to soup kitchens and to people who needed clothes and jackets for the cold weather. I was also involved in National Honor Society. In NHS, we also did volunteer work such as tutoring kids in multiple subjects.…
The National Honor Society serves as a symbol of excellence to the student body of South Effingham High School. As a hard-working, goal-oriented individual, I feel that being a member of the National Honor Society would greatly benefit my character and scholastic abilities. After graduating from high school, I plan to attend the University of Georgia, and later Emory University to attain a degree in orthopedic surgery. I would then like to establish my own practice. As an orthopedic surgeon, I will work with the utmost care to help those who need my expertise.…
Being accepted into the National Honors Society has been a rewarding experience that will shape my life around my academics and career. Along with achieving this membership status, I have earned the academic letter, which is awarded to students willing to rise to the challenge of achieving good grades, working hard, and being dedicated. At the end of my high school career I earned the acknowledgement of being a capable student and young adult. While being a part of this organization, their core values of dedication, and hard work have been instilled into me throughout my high school years, and I plan to uphold them in my college career and beyond.…
Throughout my college career, I have had many memorable achievements and gained lots of knowledge on valuable lessons. Yet there are specific lessons and achievements that stand out. Last year, I had the privilege of being asked to join Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society at UCR, which recruits the top 20% of all undergraduate students. By joining and becoming actively involved with the organization, I was fortunate enough to be offered the position of Vice- President of the organization, which is the most meaningful achievement I have had so far.…
One extracurricular activity that I am heavily involved in is my school's Webcast program. At the Webcast, we stream different sporting events year round that involve our school such as football, basketball, and volleyball through the NFHS Network. Our school’s Webcast has been recognized for three consecutive years as an NFHS Elite School since 2014. NFHS uses our school's webcast as an example for other schools.…
Ever since I was little there have always been two careers that have sparked my interest and that I’ve wanted to pursue. The first career is biopharmaceutical, which I got from my Dad who has a preexisting condition called CIDP which is a rare neurological disorder in which there is inflammation of nerve roots and peripheral nerves. My dad was diagnosed with the disorder in 2009, with this diagnoses I had to step up my role in my family by being there and supporting my parents and siblings. I am ready to attend Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy is because I am interested in curing rare and preexisting diseases like my dad through leadership. I have been identified academically gifted since elementary school.…
2. Participation in extracurricular activities at the school a. I did not participate in extracurricular activities at my schools. There was an opportunity to attend a concert that my fourth graders preformed. However, I had a wake the night of the concert and was unable to attend.
