Japanese Feudalism Essay

Feudalism has been in effect in medieval times in europe and japan. Feudalism is a social system mainly in medieval Europe where nobles were given the gift of land that is owned by kings or emperors. In return the noble peoples give any kind of military service that the king or emperor requests. How is feudalism in Europe similar or different from feudalism in Japan? Leaders of Japan and Europe were different in such ways that kings for example in europe held power overall. They could also play roles as lords as well as giving land to nobles and getting military service. Although, Emperors in Japan were basically just figureheads and really didn’t have power overall. the real power was placed with the Shoguns and Daimyos. One thing leaders did have in common at these times was that they were top of the social structure. Warriors of Europe and Japan shared common similarities and differences. They were the same on ways in which the emperor and king were placed at the top but didn 't share equal power above all. The samurai and the knight both lines by codes of honor but had different ways for themselves. Samurais would commit suicide if shame was brought to their families and knights were demanded to show humility. Also, knight 's armor wasn 't as effective as the samurai armor as far as protection and ability to fight goes. Samurais and knights valued loyalty and bravery. They also fought for their lords in exchange for land. The social structures of Europe and Japan were alike in ways that the king and emperor were on top and their warriors were the third level.
