Robbing the temple of Mother Larina, it was an audacious idea; the grounds were so well guarded that even the best thieves in the city wouldn't dare to try. And that is how Aaron knew he could pull it off. Of course he wouldn't just try to jump the wall in the night, and slip in a window, that's the kind of thing that would get him caught. No, Aaron had a plan, and it was a plan that would turn what many considered one of his weaknesses into an asset; something he's often been teased about over the years; his girlish looks, and figure.

The winter months where the time when nobles, and the wealthy merchants would host banquets, and balls. it was a chance to introducing newly arranged couples to each other for the first time, and introduce them as a pairing to society; for the rest it was a chance it was a chance to show off prospective brides, and grooms, so that such arrangements could be made. And it all began with the Festival of Hearth's Fire; two solid weeks where the richest and most powerful came funneling into the city to

he'd managed to grab half a dozen silver candlesticks, and spring the lock on the tithing box, and was searching parts of the temple that the public rarely saw, if ever. Then, turning a corner, he found himself in an alcove where a shrine lay; it was magnificent, the candlesticks where gold, the cloth covering a fine silk, and the centerpiece was a delicate construct wrought in gold and sliver, encrusted with lustrous pearls, star sapphires, and a white fire opal as big as his eye. Aaron made short work of the gold candle sticks, and silk, and had just pried the centerpiece loose, already thinking of how best to dispose of it, when suddenly he hears yell "Aaron, what are you doing!" The sudden yell shocked him, and robed him of his speed, rushed down the hall, grabbing the jewel encrusted ornament, trying to make him stop, then there was a flash, and

This chapter was surprising as Shane Clairborne give us the depiction of a businessman that had a brilliant idea in all sense of the word (literally), as he made a special bracelet engraved with WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?). As the writer describes it “It was custom-made of twenty-four karat gold. Maybe each of us can relate to this man—both his earnest desire to follow Jesus and bound up in the materialism of our culture” (Clairborne 157). This could be considered ironic considering that if he is asking what would Jesus do? He could infer that one of his ideas would not be making a gold bracelet, but instead give the money spent in the bracelet to people that need clothes, food, and shelter.…

The short stories, “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien and “The Fireman’s Wife” by Richard Bausch have resonated with me after reading them this semester. I am able to draw similarities from what I’ve read and associate them with the story. Doing so made what I read capture my full attention and transport me into the story. Also, I discovered and tackled flaws in my own character in the process. I found both of these short stories to have been thought provoking and an interesting read as well.…

The technology in Tiptree’s story is made to act as a form of escape from society, but certain negative aspects of society are not excluded from cyberspace. Artificial bodies are made to conform to a certain standard of beauty, which might be an even higher standard than reality, because P. Burke’s body matters even less in this world than in the real world. In Egan’s story, the jewels are supposed to extend lives, but by doing so, the jewel itself becomes “immortal” (Egan, 159). The narrator loses his life to the jewel slowly, and neither his mind or his body can be saved. The jewel even takes over the narration, and explains that the previous narrator “spent the last week of his life helpless, terrified, suffocated by the knowledge of his impending death...in spite of that, I think of him now as a pale, insubstantial shadow”…

One of the most dangerous characters in the whole play would be Aaron. Aaron has been known to be involved with harming Titus’s family and finding enjoyments out of it, and does not feel ashamed of his own actions, “And nothing grieves me heartily indeed, But that I cannot do ten thousand more.” (Shakespeare 175) And that can be described as a monstrous acts because taking action to harm somebody and from then looking forward to it would not be considered a normal feeling. Even to add on, instead of feeling guilty or apologetic towards the victim, he much rather prefers to see them in deep pain.…

In 1922, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s idea of the American Dream was iconic. The lust for money and the endless pursuit of all things beautiful was a mentality that is now recognized as shaping the actions of many, including Fitzgerald. As he and his wife, Zelda, struggled with alcoholism, their lives quickly declined into depression and anxiety, yet they were under the impression of living a happy life. As literary executor John Callahan said, “In its American guise, the dream Fitzgerald sought to realize flowed from that most elusive and original of the rights proclaimed by the Declaration of Independence” (Callahan 379). The pursuit of happiness, its unalienable right, influenced the culture and Fitzgeralds.…
