First of all, trust believes that you can count on others in a relationship. Trust is defined as reciprocal faith in others’ intentions and behavior. Trust is all about relationship (Kinicki, 2013). As a team it’s very important to trust in each one of the members (Engineer, Economist, and HR Generalist) because new ideas emerge when you bring together a group of people from different disciplines with a common purpose.

Fernando Bartolomé offers six guideline for building trust. 1. Communication (keep team members informed), 2. Support (Be available and approachable), 3. Patrick Lencioni’s book Advantage is entirely different from many of his other books, which read like fables; therefore, his would be my only complaint against Advantage. However, as Lencioni alludes, this is the book he wished he had written first. And rightly so, Advantage includes many of the principles taught in at least five of his other books and his big idea comes in this opening statement: “The single greatest advantage any company can achieve is organizational health.” The entire book is built around creating organizational health as opposed to most leadership books that attempt to teach new tricks to help an organization grow. Lencioni is convinced; and does an excellent job convincing his readers, that organizational health, not…

Our essential question was “How is trust is created or destroyed?” I would answer it by saying that trust is created or destroyed by the presence or lack of credibility. I came to this conclusion by comparing how in Mean Girls, Julius Caesar, and in real life how trust is earned and lost. Throughout our entire podcast, we saw that a common theme with trust in all three scenarios is the strong ability to rely on the other person. For example, Janis relies on Cady to betray The Plastics, until she loses her trust when she realizes she can no longer rely on her.…

Rube Goldberg and Beyond The objective of this essay is to ask a question that you would like to answer as part of the scholarship application. My question is “What is an example of a creative approach you took to accomplish a project you were assigned?” As a high school physics student in my junior year, I was placed on a team and tasked with building a Rube Goldberg machine that could move an object 20 feet. I started the process by watching several YouTube videos that demonstrated the basics of a Rube Goldberg machine (i.e., balls rolling, random ramps, many moving parts, etc.)…

I often think, I don’t want to sound dumbfounded, is my work not as up to par as others? But I often don’t realize that the real strength of any relationship is having alternative points of views, they may see things I may have never noticed before and others may even come up with a more effective solution on a problem. The interactions with our minds and hearts with others creates trust and cooperation that can lead to better solutions than anyone could alone. Giving our trust is far harder than receiving the trust, we don’t want to have the trust to be in the hands that may abuse it. If both parties offer clear communication on what trust means to them, both parties will know their places in this relationship and they’ll learn to not abuse the others’ trust, but to keep building from the base and create a strong relationship.…
