Multiracial people are often seen as “watered down versions” of their ethnicities, who do not quite fit into society’s images of each culture they represent. They are half this, half that, a quarter this; they are never labelled as “whole.” Frequently asked the question: ‘what are you?,’ by anyone who wants to know, multiracial human beings can have a difficult time figuring out and understanding their own identity. Does one ethnicity dominate the other, simply because the features are more prominent? The “one drop rule,” a term mainly used in the US, is the idea that even ‘one drop’ of blackness in your ancestry “precludes you from being truly white, and therefore ‘lower’ on the racial hierarchy (with whiteness being at the top of the scale)”(CARRODUS).…

The growing pressures of extinction for over 3,000 Australian native species are currently threatening the Australian ecosystem’s ecological balance. A major contributor to these pressures is the introduction of mesopredators such as foxes and feral cats. These species have been able to strive in the Victorian region as Australia’s native apex predators such as the dingo, have been removed or culled from the area (Milman, 2015). Therefore, with no threat of predation, no fatal disease threats and an extreme reproductive rate, these species have been able to over populate regions all over Australia. Feral animals pose a great threat to native species by predation, competition for food and shelter, destroying habitat, and by spreading diseases.…

Fencing can work, but it is expensive and labor-intensive. This is a major limitation in Australia, because so many of our farms are very big, and building, then maintaining a predator-proof fence around a property is often impractical” Dr. Johnson wrote.…
