After the Kristallnacht, the situation became much more difficult for the near two hundred thousand Austrian Jews. The only way Jews could escape persecution from Nazis was to leave Europe. However, they had to provide proof of emigration,such as a visa from a foreign country, or a valid boat ticket. This proved challenging because thirty-one countries refused to accept Jewish immigrants. His selfless acts of courage saved many people’s families; siblings, parents, cousins.
