My observations on this play called Fences by August Wilson was shocking to me. My first thoughts of this play when looking at the cover was that I wasn’t excited to read it. The cover wasn’t very appealing and the title didn’t sound interesting. I just wasn’t looking forward to it at all, but I knew I had to read it. After reading the first couple of pages, I was focusing on trying to figure the characters out. Throughout the play I started to get into it more and more. By the end of the play, I was zipping through the pages because I was eager to know what happened next. I went from not wanting to pick the book up, to not wanting to put the book down.
