The story ‘’Fences’’ by August Wilson shows in a very explicit way how the racism on the 1950s played a key role in a family basis. Troy that is the head of the family had been struggling all his life. First his father kick him out from home, than he end up in prison for many years because the lack of opportunities for work led him to steal, and kill someone. They have been friends for more than thirty-odd years, and Bono seems to feel a deeply admiration for ‘’Troy’s honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength, which Bono seeks to emulate’’ (534). Although Bono play an important role in Marxon’ family, the principal issue in the story surged between Troy and his son Cory. The issue beggin when Rose talk to Troy about the opportunity their young son has of being selected to play football with his College team. Troy is unhappy with such a decision, and does everything he can to avoid his son to continue playing football.
