The main idea the novel has helped reinforce was the importance of Latinos/as had on not just American history but world history as well. This knowledge of the Latino stories should not be kept from history books, it should be made clear and available to the United States population of today, to help them understand that the so called “foreigners” that need to leave, were in fact the first inhabitants of the Americas. However, huge aspect that the author could’ve spent more time over, in order to truly demonstrate how Latinos/as shaped America, could’ve been the integration of various Latina leaders and their roles in history. By doing so it would truly demonstrate another forgotten aspect of history which is the female role.
As time passes by, many aspects of history are forgotten and only the most told one will be the one to be remembered.
