The key concepts of feminist therapy are gender-fair approaches, flexible-multicultural perspective, interactionist, and life-span perspective. All four of these concepts talk about stereotypes, the social roles, using strategies, and behavioral changes that happen over time. According to Prochaska and Norcross, “gender role expectations tend to generate a false sense of self and force women to accept stereotyped gender roles” (Corey, 2013, p. 367). Society expects women and girls to act in a certain way that it is alright for them to cry but wrong for man and boys to cry. Another concept is gender schemas embedded in us from childhood is behavior’s based on society gender roles.
