Feminism Literary Theory Research Paper

Feminists are not angry lesbians who hate men. Feminists also do not believe that women are superior to men or that they deserve special privileges that men don’t. Feminists do not think that women are victims. Feminists are people who believe that all men and women deserve to be held to an equal standard politically, economically, and socially. Women activists from early feminist movements in the 19th and 20th centuries started to turn to history to argue that they deserved the same rights as everyone else. They believed that if they could show that a woman 's role was socially constructed within a specific important historical context instead of a natural approach, then feminists could argue that there equality was open for a chance. The first organised women’s movement found that women were not included in standard history texts and this inspired them to write their own history. Suffrage campaigners were anxious that the achievement of the vote, and a woman 's part in gaining the victory, shouldn’t become lost from view. Therefore they took active roles in constructing a narrative of the campaign that would have long lasting influences on future Roberts 2
