We got to learn about wage gap and about the history of feminism and it also explored different gender issues. I learned a lot when we learnt about aboriginals and third-world feminists. I think because I was educated at school about feminisms I have a different positionality than other people. Even though it mostly focused on liberal feminisms, it still explored different ideas which got me thinking about different views and positions on the concept of feminisms. That affects the way I position myself because i have a more modernized view and i grew with different values. Also my geographical location affects my position because I grew up in Canada I have had more opportunities compared to a woman from a third world country. For example I had the chance to learn about feminism in high school when women from different countries may not even have a chance to go to school. I also grew up in a middle class family and we could afford to have thing like TV and computers and from the Internet I learnt about feminism and it helped explore my views and teach me about other perspectives which I found helpful in exploring feminism. People who can not afford technology may not of had the same experience with exploring feminism and they may of only been taught one way.
In conclusion, I agree with bromley’s definition of feminisms but i also happen to that it is natural for me to agree with liberal feminism because i am a white woman and liberal feminism does apply to me, so I do relate to it and that is a bia that I personally have. Also my social location affects my relationship with feminism though the media and my generation.
