Modern feminism focuses on equality within homes and the workplace. Non-famous activist like African American Sojourner Truth gained respect and knowledge from the feminism movement in its early stages. Sojourner demanded “Ain’t I a woman?” during the abolitionist movement and slavery. In the article Rosen included a statement by California Senator Bob Wilson in which he said, “If you can’t rape your wife, then who can you rape?”. She also talked about how the public usually believes that rape victims “asked for it” and how women often felt too ashamed to report rape. Social scientists analyzing crime records report that the rate of false rape allegations is 2 to 8 percent.(Richwine). Still to this day women still feel ashamed. The public often humiliated or belittled women for rape allegations. Rosen exclaimed, “One simple phrase seemed to sum up the hidden injuries women suffered in silence: ‘That’s
