Reflection On Feminism

This past semester I took a class called 'Introduction to Gender, Race, and Sexuality ', and although there were many topics that we covered, one that kept coming back up was the idea of feminism. I realized that so many people consider themselves feminists. I also realized that so many people are against feminism. I realized that they don 't hate feminism, they just don 't understand what it really means. This has do to with lack of education, lack of care, or just simply ignorance. Or the fact that some feminists are hard-core and like to shove their views in everyone 's faces. When you think about it, every group has some extremists. There are hard-core Republicans and hard-core Democrats, but that doesn 't mean that those people represent …show more content…
What does that picture say? She 's not a feminst because she believes in equality? She (and a lot of other people) is completely contradicting herself. Feminsts aren 't saying that women should have more privelage or that we should receive special rights. We 're just saying that everyone should have the same privelage and rights.
"I don 't need feminism because I am not a delusional, disgusting, hypocrtial man-hater! I respect men and they respect me!

I can 't stress this enough. Feminism is beneficial to both women and men, believe it or not. Like I said before, feminism is the belief that all genders are equal. No gender is below another. If feminsts were man-haters, they would not be fighting for equality. Feminists do empower women, but they are empowering women to fight for EQUALITY.

"I don 't need feminism because I recognize that there are mens ' rights issues as well as womens '! And we need to stop ignoring them. I 'm anti-feminist, pro-equality." FEMINISTS ARE PRO-EQAULITY!!! Feminists also acknowledge the fact that men are objectified. They get shamed for their bodies and have gender roles imposed upon them as a child. Just like women do. Also, men are sexually abused. It 's considered 'shameful ' because men are 'supposed to be strong '. No one is supposed to 'be anything ' because of their gender. Anyone can do anything. Men can be victims and women can be predators, and vice versa. We are not ignoring these issues. In fact, we are trying to make them more evident
"I don 't need feminism seeing how I 'm an ambitious, hard working confident person living in 21st-century America. Why fight for rights I already

Rather than calling them “witches” like the girls did in Salem, the patriarchy seeks to degrade women’s rights activists by giving them demeaning labels. Resulting from this derogative name-calling is a negative stigma associated with feminism. Men represent the feminist as a caricature figure for all to see: a fat, bitter lesbian who refuses to shave her armpits. It is no surprise, then, that out of a sense of self-preservation, many women publicly reject feminist ideology. Name-calling is a surprisingly effective technique for males to exercise control over females.…

All throughout the history of the world there has always been the issue that man is superior to woman. This has been an ongoing fight that women of all races and ethnicities have been faced with in some way or form. In Patricia L. Bryan and Thomas Wolf’s nonfiction novel Midnight Assassin, the authors portray Mrs. Hossack’s as a weak feminine character, this causes her trial to be slanted due to her presumed feminine traits: through the lenses of feminism, this brings the issue of categorizing women to fit specific profiles to the light of the reader. To expand, the term feminism has been used vaguely and not many people understand the true ideals of the movement. Feminism is the advocacy of woman’s rights fighting for equal roles as men…

    When Men Call Femi-Nazis

Throughout history, women have fought for basic human rights for everyone and equality for all, but somehow, the name of feminism has been made into a more derogatory term that most other modern offensive words. Instead of being labeled a feminist being seen as a good thing in the eyes of women, some have sided with some men on the issue and determined that being labeled a feminist is an insult. While there are many more men and women that now are self-identified feminists, there seems to be more backlash and hatred for what some young men will call “femi-Nazis” because of their “hatred of men” and their intention to “switch the roles and make men the subservient ones” which is clearly not the intentions of the feminists. While the word feminism…

The ideal of feminism has been tainted over the years. Both men and women have criticized feminism; they accused the movement as victimizing men and putting women on a pedestal, some people even accuse the movement as a threat to the family unit. People theorized that if a woman were to work the children would become dysfunctional. Other stereotypes of feminism received from both men and women are; feminist hates men, lesbians, ugly women, angry women, and that only women are feminist. Though we can’t deny that some of these stereotypes could be true it doesn’t apply to all…

To achieve this, women need to acknowledge feminism as one platform for women to get more powerful. For instance, I was once asked if I was a feminist and without giving it any thought, I replied “yes, but not that kind of feminist”. At that time, I regarded feminism as a belief that wants to destroy a man’s image, but it is rather a way for women to positively build their image. I remember that one guy who asked me that question got surprised to hear what I said and he answered that he is glad that I am not crazy and all. Yes, I admit that few feminists may employ unethical methods for their voices to be heard, but it certainly does not mean women have to fear to be judged because they are feminists too.…

More specifically; feminists seek equality in wages, equal consideration for position within the military, and respect for their reproductive rights. Opposition to the feminist movement has argued that gender equality has caused harm to the family unit, created confusion among gender roles, and has portrayed abortion in a positive light. I’ve also heard it said that feminists hate men. My personal opinion is that many of these views are in fact bigoted by nature. I further believe that there is no empirical proof to support these arguments.…

When most people think of feminism, they think of the social justice warriors that go after anyone and everyone for the slightest comment. While there are some people out there that are the extremes of the group, technically these people cannot be classified as a feminist, even if they identify that way. Most of the time these people are going after men for something that they said, even if they didn’t mean it harshly. They seem to hate men themselves, this is called misandry. As the opposite of misogyny, misandry is the the hatred of men.…

Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men (“Feminism”). Women have always struggled in the fight to gain equality with men, despite the many major advances; society still has a long way to go in addressing the issue of gender inequality. Women’s rights are somewhat a delicate and unsettled subject that society still continues to debate today. The belief that women simply because they are women are treated inequitably within a society as it is organized to prioritize the male viewpoints and concerns. Within a patriarchal society, women have always been placed on a lower status compared to men.…

The top being that feminist are a group of women that despise all men, men can’t be feminist or it’s only focused on women’s rights. Now, there’s a lot of the focus on women’s rights when it comes down to it, but that’s because women still have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to equality. But bottom line is that feminism fights for both genders, to stop discrimination, exploitation, oppression and gender conforming.…

Anyone who is living in the 21st century has heard of the movements of gender equality and feminism. This topic of interest has been around for awhile, and is making a huge comeback. When thinking about gender discrimination, our minds naturally assume that women are the ones being discriminated against. That assumption is wrong, men and women are equally stereotyped into roles of masculinity vs. femininity. In order to fight for gender equality, we have to understand what gender equality is, and why feminism isn 't just for women.…
