Equality between the sexes. People who strive to achieve this goal are called feminists. This is an idea that everyone usually talks about once in their life, and of course everyone has their own opinion about the topic. However, even in the year 2016, gender inequality is still happening and there are so many people out there who are working so hard to even make some difference in this matter. Feminism is still a big topic in today’s society, and cannot be fixed unless it is talked about and even men step up and talk about this issue too.
What Even Is Feminism? In today’s world, when people hear that someone (usually a woman) is a feminist or feminist, they automatically think they are a man hating person. However, if someone did that and they were calling themselves a feminist then they are just contradicting themselves. According to Tina Phillips, author of The Role of Men in the Feminist Movement mentions that feminism means, “The feminist movement aims to achieve an egalitarian non-hierarchical society in which all people are treated equally, regardless of sex or gender” (2015, p. 12). Even author of NEW FEMINISM’S WAR ON WOMEN, Brendan O 'Neill states that “This is the idea that women have been so brainwashed by patriarchal culture that they don’t know what’s good for them anymore” (2015 p. 12). Feminism is not necessarily a bad thing. People are basically telling women that they cannot be equal with a man if they honestly get upset over saying .
