The movement feminist fights for men equality. It is about equality for all genders, not just women. This is not how the movement is seen. Many people think it is about women wanting to be superior. Feminism actual is about fighting for both sexes. Men should have the right to be emotional. They should be allowed to not always have to be betrayed as tough. Feminism is about giving all sexes the right to decide their faith. My roommate said she was not a feminist because she wanted to be the more submissive one in a relationship. That does not make her less of a feminist though. If she believes women have the right to decide instead of being told than that it part of the movement. Feminism is not decided by someone’s kink or gender. Men can be feminist. If they believe in equality for every gender, they are a feminist. The word has a negative condensation. People think it is all about man hating and bring women above men. That is not true. Watson states that “It is not the word that is important. It’s the idea and the ambition behind it”. This is about not caring about the word, but by following gender equality. Dylan called this “just being a decent person”. It is true. Gender equality is a simple concept, yet it is not in today’s society. Watson takes the concepts and finds the problems within the feminist …show more content…
I love the concept! I take the idea and share it will everyone I know, but I cannot find a tangible solution. I try to enlighten people on the actual definition of feminism, but I cannot think of a plausible solution to create gender equality. The inequality is a part of our culture due to social construction. Watson speaks of bring equality of men to increase equality for women, “We don’t often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes… When they are free things will change for women as a natural consequence”. This is a thought I never had before. By making it accepted for men to be weaker, women can take on stronger roles. Watson enlightened me on that idea. If men do not see the need to dominate, women do not have to be submissive. That is a great concept. It also does not mean men have to be submissive. The movement is just about equality. I also never thought of why the movement was not popular. I assumed it was from the radical who preach they are feminist when actually fighting for a matriarchal society. Watson gave me another reason. It is that men do not feel welcomed in the feminist movement. Feminism is about helping men and women, yet they do not feel a part of it. To me this is ridiculous. Watson had to formally invite men to the feminist movement. A movement cannot spark change, it if does not reach different
