They come in many shapes and forms that mainstream media never get to see. Most female super heroes have to be half naked, white, heterosexual, and or from a western culture to even be acknowledged. This makes it extremely difficult for other female superheroes that don’t meet the criteria to surface in the superhero realm (Superheroines). When a female superhero does surface, she is mostly add-ons, a place holder, or added visual. It is a very seldom occurrence that a female can take the lead in any superhero comic or movie. Why is that? Viewers tend to not want to see the typical women on the big screen or on the big time comic books, unless they are half naked with both sides showing. This causes huge controversy when it comes to the youth of our tie reaching out to find female superheroes to look up to. The typical Disney movie isn’t making the cut anymore. The young kids want to see action, power, and dedication that they see in all the male superheroes. It’s not fair to commit all the “super” powers to make heroes. Female superheroes are typically known as being overemotional beings that are led by their emotions, making them bad superheroes for thinking with their hearts instead of their heard. Our female superheroes have been portrayed as add-ons to the major superheroes. Being forced to be in the back of the comic strip, or get the side role in the major motion pictures. Our female superheroes have been seen one-dimensional, on taking the side to a man. Their side kicks, secretary, backup plans. Women superheroes have yet to be given the forefront to make a credible mane for themselves that can be compared to a male superhero and actually qualify as an effective character.
