It may be boring at first but once you’ve got the message of the movie, you’ll surely never get bored of it. The movie was successful in achieving their goals of spreading awareness of some issues particularly, the female genital mutilation tradition in some parts of the world. I agree in Waris’ belief that female genital mutilation should be stopped. It is another tradition that must be stopped for it does not bring anything good to all women but instead it brings harm to a woman who experienced it. It just leads to a lot of bad things including psychological trauma which is why in the movie we can see that Waris still felts bad and still cries about her experience even though it already happened a long time ago. Another one is it also leads to body infections because as we see in the movie, the one who does the mutilation is not a doctor and does not use some kind of tools that are sterilized but what’s worst here is it can also lead to death which is what Waris’ sisters ended up as she stated at the end of the movie. It is so sad and upsetting that it is still being continued to other countries. I can’t prevent myself from feeling bad for those innocent young girls who went through this practice that died because they didn’t had the capacity to endure the pain it brought or because of the infection that this practice has caused and the pain and sadness that the death of their daughter will bring to the family. Another is that it also violates human rights since in this practice, it is often carried out without consent and is forcibly against a girl’s will and if they don’t do this practice they will not be allowed to marry someone and will be treated as a whore or dirty which is something that every woman doesn’t want and doesn’t deserve to be treated. This has made me mesmerized by Waris’ actions for she is courageous and brave to speak up to everyone for it is what she thinks is right and I
