The results showed that the children with fetal alcohol syndrome displayed signs of motor dysfunction, especially fine motor skills, which are extremely important for completing everyday tasks. These results strongly suggested that all children exhibiting signs of fetal alcohol syndrome should receive evaluations assessing their motor functions. This would help the children that experienced prenatal exposure to alcohol by determining whether or not they need to be placed in developmental intervention programs to begin helping them with this disorder earlier in life (Kalberg, W. The study concluded that hyperkinetic disorders, emotional disorders, sleep disorders, and abnormal habits were very prevalent during early school ages in the children. It was clear that conduct disorders stayed persistent over time as well. In this study, a questionnaire was given to parents and teachers to help them monitor the children’s progress in school. Attention deficits were found as the leading problem in most children with fetal alcohol syndrome. The study also proved that social relationships were indeed a problem, as this was found to be the second most frequent deficit in the children. These two deficits were consistent over time.
