Feeling Guilty: The Duplicate Killing Mari

Feeling guilty is feeling as if you are responsible for a negative outcome or circumstance. Many people feel guilty for circumstances, whether they were actually responsible for them or not. Feeling guilty for a situation that is out of your hands could mean that you are very empathetic or simply unreasonable. I believe that the feeling of guilt is appropriate when the person feeling it has some sort of influence over a situation. However, there is a crucial difference between feeling guilty and feeling responsible for a situation. Someone can feel responsible for a circumstance and not guilty, however, you can not feel guilty for something without feeling slightly responsible. I also believe that it is only appropriate to feel responsible for somehting when you had a direct impact on that certain situation. But when it comes to feeling guilty, I believe that …show more content…
Although it is true that the experiences the Lilos have are important to their actions and reactions, the fact still remains that the original Lilo could have easily been put in the same situations that led to the duplicate killing Mari. If the original Lilo did go through what the duplicate did, it would only make sense that she would act and react the same way the duplicate did, considering they are the same person.
Some may also argue that these experiences have the power to alter someone’s moral judgement, and therefore the duplicate had a different set of values than the original Lilo when she killed Mari. Even if this were the case, it does not take away from the fact that Lilo could have easily gone down the same path and had the same change in values. Even if the original Lilo considers this possibility after learning of her duplicate’s act, I do not think it would be comforting enough to absolve her

Reason Of Insanity For Andrew and Abby Borden, life was ideal. Their daughters flourished in a household that was looked upon as one of happiness, comfort, and love as they taught Sunday School every weekend. Their lives were those that others envy. Guilt is defined as the fact of having committed a specified or implied offense or crime by Merriam-Webster Dictionary. In the same dictionary, shame is defined as a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. These two feelings go hand-in-hand. It is sometimes good to have guilt and a little shame, because not everyone is perfect. When Guilt and shame takes over, they can make us do things that we think are going to help us not feel guilt or shame anymore, which is not always good because guilt and shame are only felt when we do something bad.…

Guilt is “an unpleasant feeling of remorse or sadness regarding a past action” (GoodTherapy). Guilt that occurs because of a wrongdoing can lead one to experience greater sympathy for others, and take responsibility for their actions. In Robertson Davies’s Fifth Business, the guilt of Dunstan, Percy, and Paul begins with an incident in which a snowball thrown by Percy misses Dunstan and instead hits a pregnant Mrs. Dempster. As a result of this, Mrs. Dempster gives premature birth to her baby, Paul, and goes insane. This guilt plays a major role in their lives.…

Guilty by association is not necessarily a good or bad thing. It really just depends on the situation that the person was in. For example, if you had a friend that was a mass murderer but you had no idea, and you were with the friend before the friend killed the person, and left before the person was killed and you friend, you know, killed the person who is now dead, you would be guilty by association, I guess. You see, I am still kind of confused by what guilty by association means. I mean, I get the basics of it all, I just do not get the general idea of it.…

Guilt is an emotion associated with feelings of shame, regret, or responsibility for something a person has done. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the two protagonists, Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth, both suffer feelings of guilt for a heinous crime, the murder of their king. Guilt manifests itself differently in these two characters, as it does in every guilty person. So when we talk about guilt appeal, scholars have divided it into three main parts, first one is the guilt that is anticipated, second one is the guilt that is reactive and the last one is the guilt that is existential (Lwin & Phau, 2014). The first one comes into action when you are talking about the outcomes of the future in relation to the behaviour of an individual, the second one is observed when you talk about the behaviour conducted in the past that was harmful to others or one’s own self (Antonetti & Baines, 2014; Cotte et al., 2005). The third one comes when an individual comes to know about the dissimilarities in relation to the well being of themselves and others (Lwin & Phau,…
