Discrimination and racism have become one of the issues that have not been solved yet, especially in America. Indeed, there are so many problem raised by that issue itself. For example, in terms of job opportunities, nowadays not only intelligence and skills yet many companies also requiring appearances during their hiring process for some purposes (Dunn, 2015). According to Morrison (2015) there are around 50% out of 14 million unemployed people in America do not get a job due to the racial discrimination that done by some companies they are applying for, which commonly happened to the African-American race. Settles, Buchanan, and Yap (2010) on their research called Race Discrimination in the Workplace presented that many African-American employees have experienced racial discrimination in the workplace by 40% to 76% in 2010. For example, they got sexual harassment, bullying, and even physical damage. Once again, one of African-American FedEx employee has experienced the way his employer treated him unfairly in the workplace. Chow (2006) stated that this issue happened to Parnell Evans, who is an African-American employee and has been working for 17 years in FedEx San Leandro, California, in 1999. In his investigation, he stated the problem occurred when he filled a complaint form and submitted it to both FedEx and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The purpose of filling that form is because Evan got a racial discrimination in FedEx. Yet, what he got after he complain about it is even worse. “The management of FedEx suddenly reduces my working hours, my working groups, and the amount of wages that I usually got” said Parnell Evans resentfully.
