Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is one of the largest sporting events in the world. It touches the world, develops the game, and builds a better future through a variety of ways (FIFA, 2015), but, unfortunately, deals with corruption and scandalous deeds within the organization. The scandal has been publicized due to the controversial announcement of Qatar’s controversial win of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament. There have been alleged briberies and dealings that seem to link with Qatar’s win. This caused an outrage around the world, as it was a supposed ethical failure that affected the integrity and reputation of the game. Also, various stakeholders will be negatively affected: The football community will view FIFA as a corrupt organisation and will be skeptical in future decisions made by them. As well as clients, sponsors such as Visa, Coca-Cola and Adidas will reestablish whether or not they want to associate with FIFA.
There were clearly various management issues in the voting of the FIFA tournaments. Yes, FIFA were found to be free from any ethical issues in relation to the tournaments voting, but even so, there have been briberies that have been proven to be true and having Blatter resign from his presidency definitely turned heads.
Sepp had the main managerial responsibility of representing FIFA legally as president, which includes “implementing the decisions passed by the Congress and the Executive Committee through the general secretariat” (FIFA Statutes, 2013). Blatter may have been portrayed in carrying out these duties, but he could have been aware of the scandals going on in the executive
