A lot of people come to America and want to live the “American Dream.” Then you have others that are already naturally born American Citizens that want the “American Dream.” Growing up, there was always someone in my family high ranked in the federal sector. Everyone that was not in the federal sector wanted a federal sector job. These private sector and public sector employees didn’t meet requirements to obtain employment within the federal sector. I always heard “it is about who you know, to get a federal sector job.” That is false; I am a walking testament of that. Two times I’ve had interviews for federal employment; I received both jobs and did not know anybody in either agency. I am qualified. I worked hard to created skills, credibility and credentials. However, there are many times when I did apply for a position and I was bumped. There were several reasons why; veterans preference, not enough time-in-grade, not enough experience, not enough educational background etc.
