Fed Up Rhetorical Analysis Essay

Walking into the supermarket there is a variety of choices. Those choices presented include organic food and regular or GMO food. Budgeted consumers typically choose the least expensive products, while ‘health conscious’ consumers lean towards organic products. After writing a rhetorical analysis on the film Fed Up, there were questions that came to mind. One in particular was: What are the differences between GMO foods versus organic foods and why do health conscious shoppers steer clear of GMO products? I know that there is a stigma that organic is better than GMO food, yet an online encyclopedia by Helen Davidson states, “The health benefits of consuming organically produced foods compared with conventional foods are unclear.” That raises the question of why GMO foods are looked down upon in comparison to expensive organic food.
Researching the differences in GMO and Organic food is important to society in order to make health conscious as well as budgeted choices in the supermarket. Consumers should not have to choose between foods that are considered in some organic enthusiasts’ eyes as poison, and organic food. Personally, I feel that organic food is overpriced yet often wonder if the food I’m buying

I plan to research what organic food is and how to identify the 100% organic food rather than organic food at the lowest percentage. I wonder if there is a difference in price between 100% organic and less organic foods. So far, I have come to a conclusion that no one really knows what the health difference is between organic and GMO, but because GMO is ‘unknown’, people choose organic. The question I have is: Are consumers asking just as many questions about where, when, and how their organic food is being made or just the GMO products? My goal is to find out the big difference between GMO and organic
