Fed Up
The film that I have reviewed is Fed Up, this is a documentary by Stephanie Soechting and executive producers by Katie Couric and Laurie David, Couric also narrated the film. This film talks about the corruption in the food industry, and how is more important to make money than to provide healthy products for us and our kids and it explains that because of the corruption there's an obesity epidemic in America. They are willing to put our health and the health of our loved ones in jeopardy to make money. These companies preferred to make new products that are label, sugar-free, fat-free, diet soda instead of removing their products from the shelves of grocery stores. This film explains the link between sugar consumption and obesity.

The film also discusses how we see and think about food and exercise is wrong, Couric says that “many people think that kids are overweight for two reasons, a lack of exercise and increased appetites.” The three major concepts that I will be talking about are Type 2 Diabetes, Healthy food, and nutrition facts also an active lifestyle.
When we were discussing chapter three we learn about Type 2 Diabetes and how we can lower our chances of developing this chronic illness. We discussed how eating a diet high in added sugars increases our risk of developing diabetes, we also learn that there's evidence which links sugar intakes with obesity. This documentary focuses on obesity and diabetes it explains that obesity 30 years ago was not an issue but 30 years later it has become an epidemic. The obesity epidemic is not only affecting people from the United States it has become a worldwide problem which is the same case for Type 2 Diabetes. The film talks about how sugars have different names about 56 in total, some of them we discussed in the reading from the book, for example, corn syrup and fructose are very common in

The documentary Bag It takes an in depth look at the use of the plastic bag and how it impacts our environment. I, like most, have assumed that because an item is recyclable, it can be used indefinitely while providing some level of satisfaction that we as humans have done our due diligence in protecting the environment. This film disproves that theory and takes you on the journey from the grocery store to the belly of a sea turtle. The first plastic bag was made known in the United States as a way of carrying goods from major grocery chains by gasoline giant, Exxon Mobile, in the late 1970’s [1].…

“And no matter how careful you are to avoid the real thing, you still have to be extra vigilant to watch for added sugars lurking in what seem like healthy foods, such as energy bars or bottle tomato sauce” (Richards). Added sugar isn’t a good route; it just adds more calories into you without any nutritional benefits. “…The Sugar Association has worked to perpetuate the myth that high fructose corn syrup uniquely contributes to obesity and other health problems, preying on consumers’ food fears and diverting attention away from the real issue–that Americans should reduce their consumption of all added sugars and calories in general” (Sugar Association). The counterclaim also mentions that removing one kind of added sugar won’t reduce Americans waistlines. Representing that high fructose corn syrup causes a number of health issues, including obesity, while at the same time creating a health halo for processed…

Fed Up goes into depth on how big private corporations and the American government benefits from the exploitation and miseducation of it’s citizens as it relates to health. What the government does to hide the truth about food, sugar, and its relation to obesity is in direct violation of the Social Contract Theory. The Social Contract Theory argues that people should put their self-interest behind them and make decisions that benefit everyone rather than just make them better off. Corporations go to extreme lengths to make themselves better off rather than to humanity. In the context of the documentary Coke and Pepsi are aware of how bad their products are for consumption, especially for children and rather than try to create a healthy and…

I feverishly attempted to out fast food intake countless times before by cooking at home more, however I still frequent fast food restaurants two to three times a week due to the convenience and simplicity of buying food that’s been pre-made. The primary fast food restaurants I typically turn to when my stomach is growling are Wing Stop, In N Out, and King Tacos. I tend to order a full meal, such as a 10pc parmesan wing combo with fries and veggie sticks, and usually a small soft drink as well. I also tend to eat veggie sticks and French fries with ketchup and ranch.…
