Research has found that some people actually do show sign of having congenital fear of snake. This occur due to when an infant sees someone else react with fear. This then informs the infant that this creature can be dangerous towards them and is the way someone should react. In the article “Fear of snakes: An evolutionary perspective on the way kids learn”, written by Gwen Dewar, he does an experiment with two different groups of monkey, in which one group watched a video of a money acting frightened of a plastic flower and the other group watched a video of a money acting frightened towards a plastic snake. After that experiment, the monkey was given a plastic flower, but did not seem to react with fear, however, when given the plastic snake,
