The character Najmah herself in the book is a refugee. She has been walking many miles on her feet, “I cannot feel my feet, although they are bloody with broken blisters, torn nails, and cracked calluses” (Staples 124). The explains the pain of walking many miles on foot, only being the age of 13. But once they have walked a long time on their feet everyone is very tired and doesn't want to move although they are so close to their camp. Najmah had this delma and stated, “I’m so tired and weak I can barely move” (Staples 124). This is an fictional book but the truth of blistered feet, Broken toe nails, and bleeding are all true. In real life thousands of people feel that they need to escape. But, the only problem is they have to walk on their feet,”fleeing their country walking on swollen feet to a refugee camp” (Ward,Mckay). This is explaining that this part of the book is real.
