If we were all really honest with ourselves, and we peer into the depths of our being looked at our deepest part we would find a similarity within each soul. Hiding beneath the desire to be loved, wanted, and needed we would find the fraction of us we seem to hate the most. This small piece shows itself in countless ways. It hinders us from success and fulfilling God’s greatest purpose for our lives, and we often times don’t know how to pin point this feeling. The first lie is that you as an individual must meet certain standards or “measure up” in order to feel good about yourself. The fear of failure is a result of this lie. Lie number two tells you that you need the approval of other people to know that you are worth it. Believing this lie will result in the fear of rejection. The third lie of this triple threat say that if you fail then it is the end of the rope for you. You deserve no love, and you should be punished. When dealing with the fear of failure God’s response is that through His son you have been justified and forgiven and now wear the righteousness of Christ. Because of that you are pleasing to the father (Romans 5:1). If fear of rejection is what you are at war with let Colossians 1:21-22 be your weapon of choice and know that you are accepted by God. Lastly, if the fear of punishment is what is ruling over you then have hope and confidence in the truth that Christ, when he suffered death on the cross took on the wrath of God for you.
