Analyzing Kerrie's Decisions

Decent Essays
There is a lady named Kerrie who did not sleep very well because she is faced with a quarterly financial review and planning session with the Chief Executive Officer and the other general managers at her job called Access. Kerrie and the other managers want to meet the 15 % reduction of the budget and she strongly feels like reaching the goal can be achieved. Kerrie was presented with her results of her strengths and weaknesses report and she found out that she is lacking in the leadership area. Kerrie, being the general manager, promoted a man named Peter Brown to run the new accounts department and hired a lady named Tiffany Morris to be the head of strategic planning. She felt like Peter would be the perfect candidate for that promotion because she had worked with him before on a …show more content…
Fayol’s unity of direction states that coworkers should “go together or co-exist, and a particular plan be led and directed by a single person” (Sharmma, 2015). There is a very clear violation of Fayol’s unity of direction when Kerrie is faced with Sam. He was very direct because he felt like Kerrie should follow his direction since he has the most experience at his position. Everyone should follow Karrie, not influence her into doing something that she really does not want to do because that is what Fayol’s unity of direction goes by. Another violation is when Kerrie wants to do her own thing when it comes to the expense reduction, when she did not confide in the senior administration or higher help. Kerrie overcomes this situation by trying to enhance the data of what will show up in the books by 20 percent. If Karrie decided to do her own thing, she would affect the other sections of the team. It will be a chain effect because if one side struggles, it will not look too good for the other areas in the business. She cannot be selfish in her decision-making process because the outcome may look excellent for her and her side of the company but the other sides will

The adjustments that I would make as a manager would be for Pam to try another way (without using more money), other than brochures such as: to call the list of senior executives and schedule meetings, power point presentations with statistics, so she could sell them the program and answer any questions about the senior executive leadership program; Pam should also send them emails with an option for comments to receive feedback from the senior executives. This will entice the senior executives to go to the training program. Pam should continue the program and run it at a loss, because 10 senior executives are enrolled in the program; 10 people are better than nothing, at least with 10 people the company will get some of the money back. Also the program starts in four weeks, which gives an open door for more people to register. Pam should make sure that the senior executives have the best experience so that they approve the training for the mid-level managers.…

Bad management existed in the kitchen because Sara gave overtime to her employees like it was candy. In the articles “Brittany Maynard, as promised, ends her life at 29” and “Brittany Maynard explains reasons for ending her life in her own words”, Brittany Maynard decides to end her own life during the end stages of her terminal brain cancer. In this essay, I will describe Maynard’s reasons for her decision to take her own life. I will show how Kant would argue that Maynard’s decision was morally impermissible by using the two formulations of the Categorical Imperative, and how Aristotle would argue that Maynard’s decision was morally permissible using the doctrine of the mean and the good for a state argument. Finally, after critically assessing both approaches, I will show how I determined the permissibility of Maynard’s decision in taking her own life.…
