Literature review: What effect does fatigue have on a variety of sporting performance and how can it be prevented?
Throughout this literature review the topic in discussion will be “What effect does fatigue have on a variety of sporting performance and how can it be prevented?” The way in which this will be discussed is through a vast range of academic source’s and previous studies to try and find a gap in the literature, in order to gain more knowledge in this particular issue within sport and try find the correct implications to avoid it having a negative effect. Their study also found that dribbling skill did not decrease throughout practise, due to it being a lesser peak muscular activity so is more resilient to fatigue (Russell, Benton and Kingsley, 2011). With this being said it is demonstrated that fatigue does negatively affect some areas of performance (high peak muscular activity) but not all performance, meaning that on average performance outcome will decrease the longer you are playing a sport at one time (Russell, Benton and Kingsley, 2011). Fatigue is thought to have a negative on young athletes more so than adults as Rampinini found that fatigue had a negative effect on short-passing ability of young football players and suggested that this is due to fitness level of the athlete not being fully developed (Rampinini et al.,
