First looking at if the care giver lived in a home with a preschooler or younger child or children, along with a women who was head of the house hold. Going through many categories such as; how often the child was bathed, toilet training, help dressing, playing, feeding. Then breaking down categories into how many children were at home, education level and ethnicity. Results of surveys were divided into sub categories such as; time and control factors.
Time was defined as a “trend” to understand the men’s level of involvement with the child, specifically to care and supervision. Controls were more of a variable options such as; children living in the home, their ages, wife compared to a female partner, and lastly social and demographic living.
The results show that men engage in physical care with their preschoolers have increased year after year. From 2007 to 2009 increased by 16%. Time will only tell if this continue to increase and become the new norm in
