Hamlet would fit in just right in Kansas... But being mad at a step-parent is a very apparent thing that occurs on a daily basis, the child in everyday life is not plotting his revenge on the stepparent... hopefully. In modern times there are themes in everyday life that come from Romeo and Juliet such as forbidden love and oppression from parents. Basically they were in love and their families hated each other. Simple as that, this is recreated in too many movies to count, but it happens in real life, not as commonly, but it is there. In small towns such as Texarkana, for example it is very plausible. A parent could do something to upset another in high school and this town not being large it is a possibility for the teens to wind up in a Romeo and Juliet scenario. There is also a law in the state of Arkansas named after this scenario. Juliet was considerably younger than Romeo, which would make sense to why They were forbidden to be together. The Romeo Juliet law is defined as “ Teenage couples before either participant has reached the age of consent, or after one has but

    Family Dynamics In Hamlet

Shakespeare’s Hamlet conveys family dynamics through his portrayal of Polonius’ family by using the motif of disease, the tone and corruption to achieve the overall effect of showing how family dynamics had a great influence during that time period especially with the inheritance of royalty and marriage. Polonius takes on a commanding tone when instructing his children on what to do, he wipes away the innocent thoughts of Ophelia and how she believes that Hamlet loves her. He informs her that she is a baby without any hesitation and that she should not have such a “free and bounteous (I. iii. 18)” audience with him. He then demands that she tell him the truth and throughout all of this she subserviently obeys his commands and says “I shall obey my Lord (I. iii. 19).” This may convey how women are treated in families as things that can be ordered around and they are expected to listen to their father’s.…

On his way to get revenge, Hamlet encounters several obstacles such as his social environment. In fact, the protagonist is in perpetual conflict with his uncle Claudius through the whole play. It will therefore lead to a distrustful relationship mainly between the two of them. Since the begining of the play, Claudius resents his nephew as we can observe by means of the pejorative adjective : "to preserve in obstinate condolement is a course of impious stubborness, 'tis unmanly grief, it shows a will most incorrect to heaven, a heart unfortified, a mind impatient, an understanding simple and unschooled" (act I sc2)…

There are many different emotions and drives that may conflict with a character’s moral duty in literary works such as: a personal cause, a love, a desire for revenge, or a determination to redress a wrong. In Hamlet a tragic play by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is in a war between his desire for revenge against the man who murdered his father, and his responsibility as a prince to do the right thing. This war has a negative effect on Hamlet because it slowly turns his façade of being mad into a reality. This conflict is significant because it expands on the works theme of how Hamlet’s constant confusion, along with his inability to act on his desire for revenge ultimately…

In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the moral corruption that occurs between family members causes animosity that results in their downfall, and eventually their ultimate demise. More specifically, the tainted view of an individual in a family may result in the downfall of the other family members involved. This is often considered one of the most tragic parts of the play, however if they were both only a few years older, would it still be considered tragic? We have to remember when reading this play that back in the 1600’s teenagers were considered adults and were mature enough to marry and have children, so why not be in love? “These violent delights have violent ends” (Act, Scene, Line), these are the words of Friar Laurence when he is pondering the marriage of Romeo and Juliet and the outcome. Romeo and Juliet should have been aware that their relationship was dangerous and that it may not end well.
