In modern times there are themes in everyday life that come from Romeo and Juliet such as forbidden love and oppression from parents. Basically they were in love and their families hated each other. Simple as that, this is recreated in too many movies to count, but it happens in real life, not as commonly, but it is there. In small towns such as Texarkana, for example it is very plausible. A parent could do something to upset another in high school and this town not being large it is a possibility for the teens to wind up in a Romeo and Juliet scenario.
