Typical father-son relationships tend to have a lot of love, similarities and care in them, unfortunately one cannot quite say the same about the relationship a father and son, have in the Kite Runner. Relationships are things that are shaped by experiences, a pair or group of people, go through; some begin rough and end perfectly, while others do not. Baba and Amir, a father and son that had been through a lot at the very beginning of their relationship, have rough times and good times shaping their relationship, ever so often. One reads Baba’s lack of belief at the very beginning of the novel but towards the end reads about Baba’s immense belief in his son’s accomplishments and future, showing us how their relationship progresses. Firstly, their tense relationship in Afghanistan occurs due to Baba being torn between his sons, Baba not liking Amir’s personality and Baba not putting forth much effort in getting to know and understand Amir. Secondly, their migration to America begins to show a positive turn in their relationship through Baba being proud of Amir for graduating from community college, Baba and Amir going through hardships, causing them to get closer and Baba introducing Amir through mentioning Amir’s real dream, proudly. Lastly, the time of Baba discovering his sickness gives a great positive boost on their relationship through Baba being extremely ecstatic on Amir 's wedding day, Baba teasing Amir about a girl he likes and Baba dying in peace after witnessing his son and daughter-in-law happy, filled with joy together.
