On Sunday, January 24th, Father Nelson gave a homily at Saint Anne about forgiveness. He told a true story of a priest and a lay man who would go around to different prisons and give retreats and talks. The lay man’s son went on a trip during Spring Break. While on the trip, a man on drugs confronted the son and wanted to rob him. The man on drugs fatally shot the son. The father was so devastated and told the priest he wouldn’t do anymore talks because the prisoners do not deserve them. The priest respected his wishes. Time went by and the priest found a book about people who experienced suffering and how they can help others in their situations of suffering. He sent it to the man and wrote a note saying how he hoped he could forgive the man
