The poems “Jim” and “Father William” are based on a child and their parent. The differencing and comparing between the two stories shows how their household was like in their area. The reader finds at least two ways to compare and contrast the poems. In “Jim”, Mrs. Jackson is Jim’s mother and the townsfolk are describing how kind Jim is to her. When she was sick, he brought her food and medicine. Jim would tidy up her room as well. However, in “Father William” the young boy is comparing Father William’s exquisite posture and bone quality to his old age. The youngster asks several questions on his way of being, and cares not to get him to stop. He only is curious about his acts. Jim and the young child are similar because they are young children curious about the world and how to help it work. Jim is curious about the care for his mother and the young boy in “Father William” is questioning William’s strength. …show more content…

Protection, equality and happiness are sometimes very hard to find and obtain but with Jack and Jones it was reachable. Jack hid behind the terror of the Beastie and advertising the protection against it. The “Beastie” was an imaginary beast that Simon was later to find out was actually the savagery that each person was capable of. Ironically, Jack promised his group protection from it by offering the head of the each pig they caught.…

A Negative Experience In this poem, it is decided whether or not a father treats his son well or not. The poem conveys a very broad spectrum through the ways that the son is treated and the items that are discussed. It seems like the son is unsure of what is going on throughout the story and during the events that occur and are discussed, the context seems to change that idea a few times. “My Papa’s Waltz” written by Theodore Roethke displays a negative experience for the child through tone, rhyme, and diction.…
