The issue with this case study is that the student has learned at home that it is okay to call adults "dude". This student continues to practice this behavior on a daily basis while at home. The student may be learning how to respect adults and authority figures at school, but he does not see that calling adults "dude" is a sign of disrespect. I see this as an issue because the student has not been taught that it may be okay to call his father dude, but not other adults or authority figures. This is showing a lack of parent and teacher team work! In order to help the student succeed, the teacher and parents need to work together. I would not punish the student because he has not learned yet that “dude” can be interpreted as disrespectful. As
