In 1839, Father Chaminade wrote a letter to the retreat masters. In this letter, Father Chaminade preaches about community by telling the retreat masters to. Chaminade states in his letter, “…all of which are works of charity, while you are assured that you perform useful services for the Church if you persevere…” (Chaminade 1). I understood this quote to mean that those who are truly devoted to their faith do what God needs them to do. They must be always willing to provide charity and help when possible. I can relate this mentality to how I contribute to my academic community, because I am always ready to help a classmate who is struggling with their work or volunteer to help.
