The events that happen over the course of the film deal a lot with the concept of fate. Fate becomes the main theme of the film. Fate is the development of events beyond the control of a person. It shares similar characteristics with supernatural powers. However, in regards to the film it is not possible to discuss determinism, without discussing the blatant issues of sexism also incorporated into the film. Having just argued that determinism and sexism are linked in the film, let us turn our attention to the ways in which fate plays a central role in The Adjustment Bureau.
