Romeo and Juliet is a heart wrenching story of young love and irony. For years teachers have been using this piece of literature in their classrooms that by now it is just tradition to read this Shakespearean tragedy in high school. By this time, almost every person knows the story of Romeo and Juliet and how two star-crossed lovers died over their fierce and undeniable love for eachother. While this story leaves most readers sad or unfulfilled, the question that will forever haunt the reader’s mind is the ever so simple question of, “Who was really responsible for the untimely demise of Romeo and Juliet?” The true and only answer to this question is that no person is truly responsible, but the ever so delicate idea of fate. The fact that Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, fell in love was the first domino. Tybalt killing Mercutio which resulted in Lord Capulet forcing Juliet into marriage was the second domino. The final domino was the Friar’s poorly executed plan. Everything was a sort of a domino effect. It was fate that Romeo and Juliet fell in love when they were in opposing houses. It was destiny that Tybalt killed Mercutio, and it was fate that the plan didn’t get to Romeo in time. Everything in this story is completely and utterly controlled by fate even down to the last word. If only fate was on Romeo and Juliet’s side, perhaps they would have ended up together. It seemed as though everything was against them in this story. In conclusion, Romeo was a boy desperate for true love. He would do anything for his partner for love in return. Juliet was a naive little girl not ready for a serious relationship. She trusted people too easily and this ended with her losing her life.
