Fast Prewriting Strategies

Decent Essays
I think fast writing could be a great prewriting strategy for someone who has a hard time of getting started. Also fast writing is a good strategy, because a person gets to write without any concerns. It's written with out worrying about spelling, grammar or punctuation. I agree fast writing is a great prewriting strategy.

On the other hand, most find this process extremely difficult; thinking of new ideas, words and sentences in sequence is challenging. Forming thoughts and putting them into paragraph form takes time, and not only time, but also countless attempts. I never considered myself to be an excellent writer but still thought I wrote well enough to get my point across without confusing the reader too much. However, any confidence that I had in my writing skills was lost for a short time when I had to write my first timed essay in school. Luckily, the timed essay assignment also helped me see that I needed to work on my writing and, as a result, actually turned out to be a more positive experience rather than a negative one. It was just another regular school day that was near its end, and I had one more class to go to before everyone was released to go home.…

Writing has always been one of the most difficult skills that I have been learning through my college career, but it has also been the most important skill because unlike other skills writing affects my works across all courses or subjects. Writing has also helped me to get in to UMD, receive scholarships, and be accepted in research programs. Therefore, all the effort that I have made to improve my writing skill is worth it. From experience, writing is not like other skills that one can learn overnight, for me, writing skill is very slow progress and requires a lot of writing and reading; this is what I got from this class. In this class, my writing has advanced because I am reading more, practicing more, and writing more.…

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

Just a little Advice Many students and great writers share the common first draft jitters. The most common writing challenge is getting started. In order to be a productive writer, we must start by putting our creative minds to the test and letting our fingers follow. I am not the kind of person that can whip out a paper the night before or create a masterpiece from nothing, but I can write an essay or story without it being too much work. Due to all the reading I have done writing to me is almost as natural as talking. Also, I am quite good at knowing how to divide writing to make it less work. Some writers I have come to know write until they can't write anymore and that's when the stop, wearing themselves out in the process. When I write I pace myself knowing went to stop and when to pick it back up again.…

While i have had many problems reading and writing, the projects i have accomplished have taught me some processes to help.i am like all people i am not perfect, so one of my big struggles growing up was reading and writing. first of all, i always try to write so fast causing it to become messy and unorganized. I find it better to write if you slow down, take your time, and copy notes off a friend if you get behind. Another problem i have is creating a story to write about. This year I have the honor of spending my days with 24 five year just starting their literacy journey. The undertaking is a daunting task (thankfully I have an amazing classroom teacher leading the way), the standards in place for kindergarten students are high. Finding a balance between strategies that distill a text into identifying letters and producing letter sounds, and allowing the students to find delight in a book of their own choice is imperative. I am humbled daily by their fortitude and willingness to participate in the tasks necessary to become lifelong readers and writers. The pendulum swings between excitement and frustration during our ELA lessons, which leads me to reflect on my own literacy experiences, and wonder and hope that I can give them what they need.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…

Writing has always been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I find it difficult to put my thoughts on a paper, especially if I have to do it in another language. Some people think that as long as they can speak a language or communicate with other people, it is enough. However, these people are totally wrong. People do not only need to speak a language fluently, but they also have to be able to write it.…
