According to Obesity and Cancer, obesity is overtaking tobaccos as the leading preventable cause of cancer (“Obesity and Cancer). Most people believe that tobacco is the main reason cancer occurs. Little do people realize, that in reality if they took care of their body and maintained a healthy diet, along with not smoking, their risk of becoming a victim of cancer will become significantly lower. Eating healthy and protecting our body is hard to do since we are supplied with fast food restaurants all around, who serve unhealthy foods, and unhealthy portions of food. People are addicted to the fast food due to the foods taste and cheap prices. Obesity is a condition in which a person has abnormal amounts of body fat in unhealthy places. …show more content…
There are three precautions a person can take; eating and drinking heavy, increasing physical activity on a daily basis, and controlling portions of their food intake. Eating more vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, staying away from sugary foods and drink, and taking at least thirty to sixty minutes to exercise a day can help keep your body healthy (“Obesity, Weight”). Eating healthy and working out are not the only way to keep your body healthy. They are equally important, but there are some more precautions that need to be taken. Stretching, balancing, strength building, and deep breathing are also steps necessary to help strengthen the body. After exercising it is important to stretch at least five minutes to help keep the body flexible and joints to stay healthy. The older a person gets, the more trouble they have being able to balance themselves, which is why it is so important for someone to practice balancing themselves for fifteen to sixty seconds on each leg daily. People should also build strength in their body by lifting weights, doing yoga, or just performing exercises that resist a person’s own body weight. Deep breathing helps a person clear extra fluid in their body tissues, produce immune cells, and absorbs fatty acids and transports fats, which is why it is important to perform deep breathing exercises two to three times a day …show more content…
The question is, will they take the steps necessary to get it healthy and keep it healthy. If they knew that being healthy was so important in heightening their life span people would probably take it more seriously. It is important for people to know how they can protect their body. The healthier a person is the happier they are, especially if they workout daily. Working out helps a person release endorphins, causing them to be happy. Working out and eating right is a guarantee pass from cancer, but it does increase a person’s chance of not receiving it. Cancer can be passed by genetics, radiation, and even tobacco, not just by being overweight or obese. If a person thinks about it, precautions can be taken for almost every reasoning of cancer, besides genetically. Imagine working out once a day, can possibly keep the cancer
