Majority of the people who eat at fast food restaurants, they never pay attention to the calories count or whatever it is in the food they about to order. People only care about getting the most food for their money; they don’t realize they were putting their health at stake of consuming fast food products. With excessive ingredients like fat and sugar, if consume these two ingredients often, it can lead to obesity or diabetes. Of course, fast foods can provide some good nutrients for the body. But it is not an ideal meal for the body. By consuming fast food daily, the fat, sugar and excessive calories would not get burn off instead they get store in the body. They would cause the body to gain weight and issues. Fast food is the lead factor for obesity epidemic, but there are other factors which reinforce fast food to cause obesity much faster. Kids spent more time watching television or playing video games more than ever. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF):
• Two-thirds of infants and toddlers watch a screen an average of 2 hours a day
• Kids under age of 6 watch an average of about 2 hours of screen media a day, primarily TV and videos or DVDs
• Kids and teens 8 to 18 years spend nearly 4 hours a day in front of a TV screen and almost 2 additional hours on the computer (outside of schoolwork) and playing …show more content…
Children and teens are especially vulnerable to such tempting qualities of junk food, since fast food chains have developed a marketing omnipresence on television.
Childhood obesity is epidemic in the United States, and is expected to increase the rates of many chronic diseases. Increasing physical activity and improving nutrition are keys to obesity prevention and control.
Obesity is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and several types of cancer. There are ways to reduce obesity rate in United States. By changing our food environment can improve nutrition and reduce obesity: altering food prices, improving the image of healthier food while making unhealthy food less attractive. Many countries have been fighting against childhood obesity. Simply by banning unhealthy food advertising to children, such: United Kingdom, Norway, and Sweden. There are over 30 countries have national laws set to limit television advertising to children. By banning unhealthy food ads from children, this would help reduce crave of them asking their parents to take them to one of the fast food
