After 3 years of being in the business McLamore and Johnson dropped the “Insta” in Insta Burger king and just called it Burger King. In 1957 McLamore and Johnson invented the flame broiled Whopper. Since their menu was scarce they wanted to be as fast as possible. They also wanted their food to be cheap. The menu would grow bigger as the years went on. Burger King was the first to have dining lobbies for people to dine indoors. McLamore cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the 40th Wendy’s restaurant. McLamore was also named after McDonald’s very own Big Mac. Robert Lowes (Burger King Chairman) says, “Jim McLamore was not just the co-founder of our company, he was the heart of it. Dominos was originally called DomiNicks. Dominos was founded by Tom Monaghan in 1961. Monaghan was also the owner of the Detroit Tigers. Monaghan took the world by storm with his 30 minute or less delivery. Before that people weren’t really interested in pizza delivery. While Monaghan made a success with delivering pizzas, Mike Ilitch didn 't do a delivery service. Mike Ilitch made Little Caesars in 1959. With ingrediants that were made freshly everyday, never frozen.Mike changed the pizza industry. By the mid-1970s Mike bought and used conveyor-belt ovens in order to make his pizzas faster. Mike Scruggs Sr. was a former Little Caesars Executive. He says, “Mike Ilitch is the equivalent in his mind of Colonel Sanders and Ray Kroc(Twilight 66-69).” As the popularity of fast food rapidly started growing the Center for Science looked into the nutritional value of the the top fast food restaurants.
